New Redistricting Plan Still Splits Potter County
1 min readFrom Potter County Today
A new plan that changes the boundaries of Pennsylvania’s legislative districts has been released. Most of Potter County would remain in the 67th District, now represented by Martin Causer. Galeton Borough and adjacent Pike Township in eastern Potter County would become part of the 68th District, currently represented by Matt Baker. Both counties would continue as part of the 10th Senatorial District, where the incumbent is Joe Scarnati.
An earlier plan was rejected by the state Supreme Court because it split too many municipalities in the eyes of the court. Now that the latest map has been approved, a public comment period is open and a public hearing has been scheduled for May 2. The earliest the new districts could take effect is after the 2014 election.
