North Fork Bridge Job Underway, Detour coming June 1

1 min read

POTTER CO. – Work to replace a structurally deficient bridge near North Fork began recently, with clearing and grubbing and other pre-construction activities. The bridge spans the White Branch of North Fork Creek on Route 1016 (North Fork Road) in Harrison Township, about two miles west of the Tioga County line and less than a mile south of the New York state line. The list of structurally deficient bridges in Potter County will shrink by one as the old bridge is replaced with a new single-span, box beam structure.

On June 1, the bridge will be closed and a detour will be in effect. The detour is expected to last through early October. Drivers will use Route 4008 (Branch Road) in Potter County and (North Fork Road) in Tioga County, Route 4005 (North Fork Road) in Tioga County, Route 49 in Tioga County and Potter County, and Route 1019 (Second Street/Whites Corners Road) in Potter County.

All work is weather and schedule dependent. Dolomite Products Group of Rochester, New York is the contractor on this $728, 000 project. Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, follow detour signs and always buckle up.
