CLIFTON – An “American Idol” contestant was arrested and charged Tuesday with aggravated sexual assault after police alleged he paid a mentally handicapped woman for sex.
Detective Capt. Robert Rowan reported that Joshua Heintzelman, 21, of Halifax, Pa., was charged on Tuesday after the victim’s mother called police.
The victim, 19, of Washington, D.C., was staying at the Howard Johnson Hotel on Route 3 west, where she was approached by Heintzelman, also staying at the hotel. Heintzelman offered her money in exchange for sex.
