PA Budget Remains Stalled
1 min readHARRISBURG – Despite a Wednesday deadline, lawmakers made little progress enacting the 2010-11 PA state budget on Friday.
Republicans have indicated they’ll approve up to $27.8 billion for the state budget, but their Democrat counterparts argue another $1 billion is needed to prevent an estimated 20,000 government layoffs.
Another issue at stake is whether or not the state will receive some $850 million from a federal Medicaid fund, and how they would use the money if they do receive it. Congress has yet to approve it, and lawmakers say they cannot count on it.
