2 min readAlvin B. MILLER, 92, formerly of Ulysses, PA, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 in the Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Wellsville, NY.
Born September 18, 1920, in Bainbridge, PA, he was the son of Reuben Z. and Elizabeth Brubaker Miller. On May 20, 1944, in Mt. Joy, PA, he married the former Ethel Mae Newcomer, who survives. He and his wife owned and operated a dairy farm in Ulysses for many years. Alvin was a member of the Yorks Corners Mennonite Church. He served as caretaker of grounds at Penn York Camp & Retreat Center in Ulysses from 1991 until 2008.
Surviving besides his wife, Ethel, are: three sons, Donald N. (Jeannette) Miller of Ulysses, Eugene N. (Sharon) Miller of Wellsville, NY, and Harold N. (Karen) Miller of Broadway, VA; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, T. Kraybill Miller of Dillsburg, PA and John K. (Florence) Miller of Elizabethtown, PA; a sister, Lois (Kenneth) Hoffer of Manheim, PA; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Joy Miller; a brother, Jonas Miller; and a sister, Esther Nissley Lehman.
Friends may call Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA and on Monday at the Yorks Corners Mennonite Church, Yorks Corners, NY from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, with Funeral Services following at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Eugene N. Miller, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Yorks Corners Cemetery.
