Passing of Lula C. “Polly” BENNITT, 89, of Ulysses, PA

Lula C. “Polly” BENNITT, 89, of Ulysses, PA, died Thursday, May 10, 2012 in the Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA.

Born December 31, 1922, in Ulysses Township, PA, she was the daughter of Bython and Lula Thompson Bennitt.

A graduate of Lewisville Vocational School in Ulysses and the University of Wisconsin at Madison, she was employed by the Grange National Bank in Ulysses for 25 years and as an auditor by the Exchange Bank in Olean, NY for 20 years, retiring in 1988.  She was a member of Ulysses First Baptist Church, where she served as Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, and an ABW member.  Polly was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Surviving are:  a nephew, Ronald G. (Judy) Bennett; two nieces, Linda Graves of Ulysses and Shirley (Russell) Nicosia of Owego, NY;  three generations of great-nieces and great-nephews;  and dear friends, L. Thomas and Becky Malone of Olean, NY.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, George Bennett in 1991;  a sister, Ada Empson in 1967;  a nephew, Gerry Empson in 2009;  and a great-nephew, Rob Heysham in 2002.

Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM.  The Rev. Jason K. Reed will officiate.  Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
