Pelosi Ousted, Boehner Elected Speaker of the House
Republican John Boehner was today elected as the Speaker of the House, ousting Democrat Nancy Pelosi, who has maintained the position within the formerly Democratic-controlled House.
Boehner was chosen in a vote by the full 435-member House, shortly after the Republican-led chamber convened.
Boehner’s election marks the end of four years of Democratic rule.
