Photos From Keating Summit Crash
1 min readTwo Port Allegany residents escaped serious injury when the car in which they were riding crashed into the Keating Summit Hotel on Rt. 155 Sunday at about 10:45 am.
Police said David Akins, 20, was driving a 1999 Dodge sedan south and failed to negotiate the curve in the road. His vehicle left the roadway and struck the building, which was unoccupied. Neither Akins nor his passenger, Jessie Armour, 23, was wearing a seat belt. Upon impact, Akins was ejected out the rear window of the vehicle. Both occupants were transported to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital by Austin Ambulance. Neither required hospitalization. Akins will be cited for a safe speed violation and failure to use a restraint system.
The business, owned by Victor Earle, was not yet open when the crash occurred. It was closed for a day while the holes in the wall were temporarily repaired. It has since reopened. Lori Hansen Photos
