Pilot Killed in Smethport Plane Crash
1 min readUPDATE: State Police in Kane say 48-year-old Michael R. Duffy, of Smethport, PA, was killed when his ultra-light aircraft crashed at a private airstrip in Keating Township on Thursday, June 14.
Duffy was killed instantly in the crash, according to police.
He was the owner of Duffy Inc., an excavation company in East Smethport.

SMETHPORT – An unidentified pilot is dead following a plane crash near Smethport earlier today.
Fire and medical personnel were dispatched shortly before 6:00 pm for a report of a crashed ultralight aircraft. A medical helicopter was initially placed on standby, but later recalled once medics arrived on scene.
According to the Mt. Jewett Echo, the pilot of the plane was determined to be deceased once medics arrived at the scene.
Officials have yet to release information.
