Pink Slime Not Sold In Wegmans

Wegmans Food Markets Chief Executive Danny Wegman said today that customer concerns caused by “sensationalism” over pink slime have caused the store to respond by no longer selling ground beef that includes the ammonia-treated filler.  Wegmans, based in Rochester, will not remove the supplies of ground beef already in its 79 stores.  They will instead “transition” as beef without the more appetizingly-called “lean finely textured ground beef” filler becomes available from their suppliers.  There is no word on exactly how long that will take.
