Portville Hunter Dies after Falling from Tree Stand

PORTVILLE, NY – A Portville hunter, who fell from a tree stand over the weekend, has died.

Police said 70-year-old Robert Miller fell from the stand on Saturday, after he had shot a deer. Authorities said Miller was exiting the tree stand without a proper strap when he fell.

Miller was taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he was being treated for broken ribs and a punctured lung.

Police say the accident happened behind a home in Livingston County, NY.
