Potter County Offices: ‘Business As Usual’ On Monday

Potter County offices will be open on Monday, Oct. 11, which is being observed by the state and federal governments as Columbus Day. Most state and federal offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery. Potter County’s offices at the courthouse, Gunzburger Building, Human Services and satellite locations will operate with “business as usual.” County offices will also be open on election day, which is Nov. 2.
Although Columbus Day is actually October 12, by legislation it is always observed as a federal holiday on the second Monday in October. Many, but not all, states model their official Columbus Day holiday after the federal system — Pennsylvania included.
