The public is welcome to attend the next meeting of the Potter County Natural Gas Task Force, to be held at 7 pm Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Gunzburger Building in Coudersport.
A representative from Schlumberger, the world’s largest oilfield/gasfield services company, will present the main program. He’ll discuss the specifics of Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling, including hydrofracturing, and job opportunities in the industry.
A good turnout of interested citizens is expected. Among other topics on the agenda:
- A report from Mary Jo Shaub (E-Commerce Association) on ways that expanded broadband service will benefit the gas industry and other business users;
- A report on recruitment/training of volunteer Coldwater Conservation Corps water quality monitors;
- Information on wellsite emergency training sessions scheduled for local responders.
- Details on the upcoming Potter County appearance by the Mobile Energy Education Training Unit (MEET-U), a drilling industry education trailer.
