Property Tax/Rent Rebate Deadline Friday; Many Missing Out

1 min read

From Potter County Today

rentrebateDeadline for older Pennsylvanians and those with disabilities to apply property tax or rent rebates from 2009 is near. Dozens of Potter County residents have still not applied. Applications are due by Friday, Dec. 31, for the program that benefits eligible residents who are 65 and older; widows and widowers 50 and older; and people with disabilities 18 and older.

Annual income limit to qualify for the rebate is $35,000 (which excludes half of Social Security income) for homeowners and $15,000 for renters.

Maximum standard rebate for homeowners and renters is $650.  Supplemental property tax rebates of up to $325 — on top of the standard rebates – are available to those who pay more than 15 percent of their income on property taxes.

Rebates continue to be distributed as claims are received and processed. Claim forms are available online at PaPropertyTaxRelief.com. Those who have already applied may check the status of claims on the website or by calling 1-888-728-2937.
