Public Meeting Dec. 16 On County’s 2011 Block Grant

Township and borough officials who are interested in applying for funds through Potter County’s $240,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)  for 2011 are advised of a public meeting to be held on Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Potter County Redevelopment Authority office on Seventh Street in Coudersport, starting at 6 pm. Federal funds are allotted annually to counties for support of township, borough or county projects that meet the CDBG program’s guidelines.

As he has for more than a quarter-century, Joe Pagano is administering the CDBG program for the Potter County Commissioners in his role as director of development for the Redevelopment Authority. After reviewing public comments and conferring with Pagano for any final recommendations, the commissioners will take action on the plan during a public meeting in the spring. Project requests for the 2011 allotments are due by Feb. 25.

At the Dec. 16 meeting, which is open to the public, citizens’ comments on allocation of the 2011 CDBG funds will be accepted. A listing of activities eligible for CDBG funding will be available. Citizens are also welcome to comment on the use of previous CDBG allocations and the three-year community development plan.
