Public Meeting On Seismic Testing Tonight In Emporium
1 min readFrom Potter County Today
Helicopters, ground forces and other logistical teams are invading the region. They’re not part of military operations. Instead, they’re conducting sophisticated tests to give them a better idea of what lies beneath us as they develop plans to drill more than a mile into the ground to harvest natural gas embedded in shale formations.
Seismic testing is being conducted across Northcentral Pennsylvania. The topic will be addressed during the next meeting of the Cameron County Marcellus Gas Task Force, to be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, May 31, at the courthouse in Emporium. Tom Murphy, co-director of the Penn State Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research, will give a presentation and answer questions. Other issues pertaining to the natural gas industry will also be discussed. The meeting is open to the public.
