Rotary Dinner Auction a Success!!!
2 min readThe Coudersport Rotary Club members reported today that $8,153.00 was raised at the Club’s annual fundraising Dinner Auction held on September 18th at the Coudersport American Legion. Out of the money raised, the Club paid $1,330.00 to the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary for providing the meals and cash bar, and approximately $463.00 for advertising, supplies and entertainment; leaving the Club with $6,360.00 to be allocated toward the Club’s local projects, various youth leadership and humanitarian programs.
According to Fr. Elaine Silverstrim, Rotary Club Treasurer, 128 meals were served by the women’s auxiliary and over 115 items were available for bid during the “Tri-Auction” portion of the event (Chinese, Silent and Live Auctions). “We were blessed by the generosity of approximately 76 of the area’s local businesses and residents who donated items for the event, ranging from baseball caps and t-shirts to a Penn York Camp Scholarship, Coudersport Golf Club Membership and various pieces of furniture; including a dresser hand-built by a county inmate as partial performance of his community service requirement,” added Silverstrim.
The Club also received local support from the various co-sponsors of the event including the American Legion, Morgan AM & T, Twin Tier Linen and Amy Thompson, Rotary member and local website designer.
According to Senior Judge John Leete, “The auction turned out to be a good community event where people got out, had a nice dinner had fun and they got to associate with people they might not get to see that often.”
The Club is currently in the process of revising its budget based on the revenues raised at the auction, and anticipates allocating funds for certain enhancements to Mitchell park and CARP park, to the Coudersport foreign exchange program and for various youth leadership scholarships.
