SALAMANCA – Police say 19-year-old Trisha Fernandez was baby sitting and left a 1-year-old alone so she could go to a pawn shop with something she stole for the baby’s mother. The mother called police after she got home and found the baby alone. Fernandez is charged with criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child. She’s in Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $500 bail.
Andover Traffic Stop Leads to Heroin Bust
ANDOVER – A traffic stop Tuesday on State Route 21 led to the discovery of 18 bags of heroin and charges against an Andover man. Allegany County sheriff’s deputies and the sheriff’s office’s narcotics unit charged Charles A. Buchholz, 24, with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument. The syringe was allegedly found during the traffic stop as well. Buchholz was released and is due to appear at a later date in Andover Town Court.
