Scarnati Reveals ‘Shale Fee’ Bill

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania’s top state senator is revealing details of a bill he’s writing to require fees from companies drilling Marcellus Shale natural gas wells.

Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati said Thursday he expects to introduce the bill soon. The Jefferson County Republican says he’s trying to tailor the bill to concepts Gov. Tom Corbett supports, but Scarnati says he has no commitment from the governor.
