Shopper’s Rampage Ends in Arrest
1 min readA 33-year-old Lock Haven man, Andrew William Batschelet, has been charged with multiple offenses following a series of confrontations at local stores. The incidents, which occurred on November 18 and 23, involved Batschelet brandishing a knife and gun, making terroristic threats, and engaging in disorderly conduct.
According to police reports, the first incident took place at Weis Markets, where Batschelet allegedly yelled at a group of juveniles in the parking lot, threatening to shoot them. He claimed that the youths had been yelling at him, but witnesses disputed this account. Batschelet’s wife, who was present in the parking lot, stated that her husband had beeped at a person who nearly hit their vehicle, leading to a shouting match.
Just five days later, Batschelet was involved in another incident at Walmart, where he confronted a man with a knife and asked if he wanted to ‘finish this.’ The victim, who had previously had a confrontation with Batschelet in September, took him down, but Batschelet managed to break free and pull out a gun. He pointed the gun at the man’s head in front of his children, causing employees and shoppers to flee the scene.
Batschelet is facing charges including terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, simple assault, and harassment. He is being held on $45,000 monetary bail and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing. The incidents have raised concerns about public safety and the need for individuals to respect the law and others in their community.
