Standoff Ends Peacefully after Shots Fired

ALLEGANY, NY – An Allegany, NY man was arrested after a standoff with NY State Police and Cattaraugus County Sheriff Deputies last night in the town of Allegany.
Police say Thomas Gilray barricaded himself inside a home shortly after 8 pm last night on Lippert Hollow Road while in possession of a firearm.
Gilray, who police say had been drinking at the time, fired several shots at the police officers, narrowly missing them.
Police say Gilray eventually surrendered to police at approximately 2 am this morning.
Everyone inside the home escaped without injury.
No charges have been file yet. Gilray is scheduled for a psychiatric evaluation.
