1 min readHeather Supplee, of Coudersport, will be refining her leadership skills this June as the Coudersport Rotary Club’s representative at the organization’s Youth Leadership camp (RYLA) camp to be held at Juniata College in Huntington, PA from June 12th to 15th.
Heather Supplee is a Junior with honors in History and American Literature and a member of the marching band and high school cross country and track teams. She enjoys horseback riding and is currently serving as 4-H Secretary. She is the daughter of Eugene and Susan Supplee of Coudersport.
RYLA is a competitive leadership program that consists of a 4-day seminar called Camp RYLA where students learn leadership skills by participating in team building exercises and community service and leadership projects. Last year, 66 youth from over 30 communities across Pennsylvania and West Virginia attended the camp.
Each year, the Coudersport Rotary Club looks for students with a good academic record and involvement in school activities (athletics, fine arts, student government, etc.) to represent the Coudersport area. According to Karen Cahilly, Rotary Club President and RYLA Chairman, “The Rotary Youth Leadership camp teaches more than leadership skills; it teaches the importance of team work, good planning and the value of confidence. In addition, it looks great on a college and job application.”
