Sweden Valley ‘Road Hazard’ was 8 – 12 Tons of Material
1 min readWe reported earlier on an unknown road hazard at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 44 in Sweden Valley.
We have since learned the cause of the road hazard.
According to Sweden Township Police Chief Bryan Phelps, at 9:46 am this morning his department responded to a report of a spill at the intersection.
Upon arrival it was discovered that a 2007 Peterbilt tri-axle dump truck, owned by Hoopes Farms of Ulysses, had spilled between 8 and 12 tons of material onto the highway.
The mishap occurred as the driver of the truck, identified as Michael Stevenson, age 46, of Covington, PA, was attempting a right-hand turn onto Route 6 from Route 44.
The spill resulted in a lane of traffic being blocked for some time.
Stevenson will be charged for losing his load.
