Syracuse Univ. Coach accused of Child Sexual Abuse

1 min read

SYRACUSE, NY – In the wake of a sexual abuse scandal that has propelled Penn State into national headlines, comes more accusations; this time at Syracuse University.

Longtime assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine has been placed on administrative leave as sexual abuse allegations resurface.

Fine was previously investigated in 2005 by the University, which found no evidence to support the single claim made by now 39-year-old Bobby Davis.

At the time of that investigation, Davis provided names of twelve individuals he said would corroborate his story. None of them did. Instead, they said Fine had never engaged in any type of inappropriate behavior.

Now, a new alleged victim has come forward. Davis’s step-brother, 45-year-old Mike Lang, has accused Fine of molesting him beginning in the 5th or 6th grade.

Davis claims the abuse began when he was child, with Fine touching his genitals beginning when he was in the 7th grade.

Davis has alleged the abuse occurred at Fine’s home, in locker rooms and in hotel rooms while the basketball team traveled.

Police continue to investigate the matter.
