SHINGLEHOUSE – State Police in Coudersport have released information surrounding the accident that occurred Friday night outside Shinglehouse.
Police say a vehicle, operated by a 16-year-old male, was traveling at an unsafe speed on the Plank Road, approximately .7 miles East of the Honeoye Street intersection, when he lost control of his vehicle while attempting a left-hand turn in the roadway. As a result, the teen’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a large tree on the Southern shoulder of the road causing severe damage to the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was transported by LifeNet medical helicopter to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
To passengers in the vehicle, a 15-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, were both transported via ambulance to Olean General Hospital.
None of the occupants in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Shinglehouse Police and Fire both assisted at the scene of the accident.
Charges for speeding and not wearing a seatbelt will be filed against the driver in District Judge Barbara J. Easton’s courtroom.
