Today’s ‘Clear Water Picnic’ Open To Public
1 min readRepresentatives from the watershed associations serving Potter County and all others interested in environmental stewardship in the county’s headwater streams are invited to a picnic being planned from 4-8 pm today (Friday, July 13) at the Genesee Environmental Center (Ellisburg Road/Rt. 244). State and local elected officials have been invited to join local clean water advocates for an event that mixes public education and fun. Volunteers who are committed to protecting Potter County’s clean water will be recognized.
Admission is free. Frankfurters, pizza and other food will be provided. There will be educational displays and water testing demonstrations. A highlight will be the cardboard boat races on the center’s pond. Contestants must build their own boats using only cardboard boxes and duct tape. There will be divisions for singles, duos and teams. Genesee Headwaters Watershed Association is sponsoring the Clear Water Picnic Convention and hoping to make it an annual event.
