Toddler Safe After Williamsport Home Intruder Kills Self

A toddler was rescued Monday from an apartment building in the city’s Newberry section where a man, who later committed suicide, invaded and beat the young boy’s mother, police said.
“He tried to force his way into an apartment and he assaulted the female occupant,” said city police Capt. Raymond O. Kontz III. “She was able to remove herself from the residence, flee and call police.”
Officers found the man around 8:30 p.m. inside his apartment with what Kontz said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
