Transportation Logistics Institute Eyed For Potter County

1 min read

truckdrivertraininghomePotter County is still being considered as a site for an institution to train people who want to land jobs in the transportation industry — commercial drivers, diesel mechanics and others. Lock Haven University’s Small Business Development Center has rekindled the concept of a “transportation logistics institute” in Potter County. The concept gained some momentum a half-decade ago with a $300,000 state grant was approved to launch it. Most recently, the Lock Haven center has retained a consulting firm, Delta Development, to devise a strategic plan. Timothy J. Keohane, director of the center at Lock Haven, said the university is interested in providing programs at the Potter County facility that would meet workforce development needs and draw individuals from a broad area. Top priorities are to secure a location and develop partnerships with area businesses in the transportation industry. A group of potential stakeholders involved in creating these training programs will gather Oct. 19 at 10 am in the Gunzburger Building auditorium.
