Trial Date to be Set for Former Coudersport Man Accused of Murder
1 min readAccording to WESB News Radio, a trial date is expected to be set for Steven Rebert, a former Coudersport resident, who is accused of killing a Brockway couple in April.
45-year-old Rebert is scheduled to be in court on January 5. District Attorney Jeffery Burkett accounced in September that he will seek the death penalty in the case.
Rebert has ties to the Coudersport area, as he formerly worked as a private cable installation contractor for Zito Media. He also frequented the Flower Shop in Coudersport, which at the time was owned by Michele Repyneck Bright. Bright later went to work for James and Vicky Shugar in DuBois, the very people Rebert is accused of murdering.
Bright told police she had been acquainted with Rebert as a customer of the Shugar’s flower shop and that she had discouraged the suspect from communicating with her because of his odd behavior and apparent “stalking of her”.
Rebert is also a person of interest in the unsolved murders of Bill Fickel of Genesee County, NY and Kevin Smith of Orleans County.
