Chief Bryan Phelps of the Sweden Township Police reports that a Harrison Valley man was traveling northbound when a mechanical malfunction resulted in his truck catching fire near the intersection of North Hollow Road and Fisher Drive. The driver was able to push the truck off the main road and retrieve a few personal items before calling 911.
Phelps said he and Potter County EMA Director Glenn Dunn arrived at the scene and attempted to extinguish the fire with no luck. An engine from Coudersport with a full crew arrived shortly later and extinguished the blaze with foam.
No one was injured.
Police say the cause of the fire was a mechanical malfunction and therefore the owner will not be cited.
