17-year-old crashes pickup after swerving for deer

HEBRON TWP. – Police have released details in the accident earlier this evening that blocked part of the roadway near the Tennessee Gas substation on Route 44. At the time of dispatch, callers reported that the vehicle was blocking the roadway with no driver in sight.

According to police, a 17-year-old male juvenile was operating a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck south on Route 44, approximately 3/10 mile north of Tennessee Road when he encountered a deer within his lane of travel. The youth swerved to avoid impact, struck the bank on the western berm of the roadway, and then struck the guide rail on the eastern side of the roadway.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. The pickup truck suffered moderate damage. No other details were provided.
