AUSTIN – State Police have released details in the crash that occurred yesterday morning at approximately 6:00 am on the Reed Run Road in Keating Township.
Police say George Kurtz, 46, of Austin, PA, was traveling north on Reed Run Road when he lost control of his 1996 Chevrolet Tracker due to icy road conditions. Kurtz’s vehicle slid across the roadway and struck an embankment on the west side of the roadway, and then spun back across the roadway, before traveling down a small embankment and coming to rest.
Kurtz, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained a minor wrist injury and was transported to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital by Austin Ambulance.
His vehicle suffered moderate front end damage.
Police say that although icy roads were to blame for the accident, Kurtz will be charged with two summary counts related to Operation Following Suspension of Registration and Required Financial Responsibility.
