PORT ALLEGANY- Ward M. Wood, 82, of Route 155, passed away Monday (Mar. 12, 2012) in his home. Born July 27, 1929, in Buffalo, NY, he was a son of Margaret G. Wood. On Mar. 28, 1948, he married Evelyn M. Acre. In 1969, he married Wanda M. Keyser, who died in 2011.
Mr. Wood was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy. He was employed with Ball-Incon Glass Packaging Co., Port Allegany, as a supervisor-cold end, retiring May 1, 1987. He also worked 35 years as a deputy game warden with the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He was avid outdoorsman and enjoyed wood working.
Surviving are his daughter, Necia L. Wood of Port Allegany; two sons, Michael M. (Diane) Wood of Sansaba, TX, and Larry D. Wood of Georgetown, TX; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Wanda, and a brother, James H. Sykes.
There will be no visitation. A celebration of life service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
