William J. ‘Bill’ Snyder, 77, of Genesee

William J. “Bill” SNYDER, 77, of Genesee, PA, died Sunday, April 17, 2011 in his home.

Born December 7, 1933, in North Fork, PA, he was the son of John D. and Gladys M. Steadman Snyder.

On May 30, 1952, in Harrison Valley, PA, he married the former Pearl Benson, who survives.

He was employed by Consolidated Natural Gas for 39 years, retiring in 1990.  He was a member of the Gold Baptist Church and served on the Northern Potter School Board in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Surviving besides his wife, Pearl, are:  a son, Terry (Kim) Snyder of Genesee;  three daughters, Debbie (Tim) Freeman of Ulysses, Edie Jo (Bernie) Seligman of Genesee, and Sandy (Chuck) Symonds of Elkland;  five grandchildren;  ten great-grandchildren;  nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Edwin Sndyer and Ralph E. Snyder.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA.  Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday in the Gold Baptist Church, Gold, PA, with the Rev. Frank Mickle, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Potter County Hospice, Coudersport, PA 16915, the Gold Baptist Church, 35 SR 449 North, Genesee, PA 16923, or the Genesee Library, Genesee, PA 16923.
