HARRISON VALLEY – A Harrison Valley woman and her 10-month-old child escaped injury after a rollover accident that occurred yesterday, December 27 at 2:05 pm on Route 49.
Police say 19-year-old Miranda Rose Vanetten, of Harrison Valley, PA, was driving a 2001 Buick Century East on Route 49, in the area of the Moore Hollow Road in Harrison Township when she came upon a left-hand turn in the roadway that had been covered with snow due to drifting. Vanetten lost control of her car after entering the snow-covered portion of the road at which point her car entered the oncoming lane of traffic. Vanetten attempted to correct the car but overcompensated. Her car then spun clockwise approximately 180 degrees before sliding East onto the Eastbound shoulder of Route 49 and striking a utility pole before sliding down an embankment and flipping over onto it’s roof.
Both Vanetten and her baby, who were both properly restrained, were uninjured.
Her vehicle suffered severe front-end and rollover damage. White’s Repair of Westfield towed the vehicle from the scene.
Vanetten will be charged for not driving at a safe speed in District Judge Delores G. Bristol’s courtroom.
