Work Continuing On Hazard Mitigation Plan
1 min readA planning team continues to update Potter County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. Members have been immersed in a comprehensive effort to reduce risks, ranging from man-made hazards to floods, hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, earthquakes or dam failures. Eventually, Potter County’s plan will be submitted for approval by federal and state emergency management agencies before being proposed for adoption by the county, townships and boroughs. Cost of the plan is covered by the federal government. GMR Consulting of Coudersport is the overseer.
Among the common mitigation actions are enforcement of building and flood plain management codes and environmental regulations; maintenance of roads, culverts, dams and bridges; standards for retrofitting of structures and new construction; protection of critical facilities; planning and public education.
