Workshop Thursday on How to Run for Local Offices

A workshop for people who have an interest in serving on their school board, borough or township government is being held Thursday, Feb. 17, in Coudersport. Penn State Extension is offering the workshop, “Thinking About Running for Local Office?” at the Gunzburger Building auditorium from 6-8 pm. The program includes an overview of Pennsylvania local government and the responsibilities of a township supervisor, a borough council member, or a school board director. There will also be instructions on how to run: filing petitions, reporting campaign expenses and other important information, presented by Potter County Director of Elections Sandy Lewis. Also, a panel of local officials who will talk about why they decided to run for office and some of their experiences since they were elected. The fee of $25 and includes materials and handouts.
