Information for farmers who are dealing with decisions on passing operations to the next generation will be available during a workshop planned for Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Cooperative Extension office in Coudersport. The Farm Business Succession Workshop is scheduled from 9:30 am to 3 pm. A registration fee of $25 covers the cost of program materials, lunch and snacks.
Among topics to be covered: transfer of business decision-making responsibilities; managing the impacts of estate, inheritance and capital gains taxes; and deciding how to divide farm assets among multiple heirs. Instructors are familiar with the legal issues, tax consequences, family concerns and farm profitability issues.
Registration is required. More information is available from Judy Eckert at Cooperative Extension, 814-274-8540.
