AUDIO: Smith Calls for Action to Resolve Differences on Marcellus Shale Impact Fee Legislation

HARRISBURG – A disagreement between Pennsylvania House and Senate versions of legislation that would empower county governments to enact impact fees to help cover the local effects of Marcellus Shale gas drilling continues to cast a shadow over the state’s fastest growing industry.

House Speaker Sam Smith (R-Jefferson, Indiana & Armstrong) says he hopes to see quick action by a House-Senate conference committee to forge a compromise that will bring peace of mind to both drillers and citizens from the areas affected by drilling.
