Gov. Corbett and First Lady Invite Public to Open House at Governor’s Residence

Harrisburg – Governor Tom Corbett and First Lady Susan Corbett will welcome the public to an open house at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23.

Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley and his wife, Suzanne, will join the Corbetts to greet guests during the open house. The Residence is located at 2035 North Front Street in Harrisburg.

All are invited to visit the Residence during open house hours to enjoy the public areas of the home and to meet the new Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and their wives.

Visitors can enjoy guided tours and musical entertainment provided by local musicians. In the Grand Hall, performers will include Estelle Hartranft, cellist, and Sue Black, pianist, at 1 p.m.; Elise Bordner, pianist, at 2 p.m., and the Susquehanna Flute Trio at 3 p.m. in the Grand Hall.

In the State Dining Room, performers will include pianist Karl Hausman at 1 p.m., the Allegro String Quartet at 2 p.m., and The Dietz Family Trio at 3 p.m.

Guests should enter the home at the Second Street gates and are advised that security measures will be in place. No cameras, backpacks, large totes or purses will be permitted; and bags and persons are subject to search.

Governor Corbett is the eighth governor to reside in the Georgian-style home, which was built in 1968 and survived a 1972 flood.
