James Richard ‘Dick’ Ketchner, 82, of Bradford

James Richard ‘Dick’ Ketchner, 82, a beloved husband, father and grandfather of 132 East Main St, passed away Thursday, January 27th, 2011 at his residence.

Born August 17, 1928, in Bradford, he was the son of the late Emanuel and Mary (Marsh) Ketchner.

On May 1, 1954  in Corydon he married Delores “Dee” Scull, who survives.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marines on August 23, 1949 and was honorably discharged November 24, 1952.  ‘Once a Marine, always a Marine!’

After the service he worked in the local oil fields, later Kendall Refining Company and was employed for many years by the Bradford Area School District as a Janitor.

He was a member of the Eagles Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Jamie (Larry) Schwegler of Eden, NY, Kim Vinelli of Bradford, Chris (Todd)  Shultz of Limestone and Amy (Steven) Cameron of San Antonio, TX, a son, Richard (Jane) Ketchner of Shaverstown, four granddaughters, Debra, Mary and Greta Ketchner and Madison Vinelli, nine grandsons, Todd, Scott, Chad and John Vinelli, James Schwegler, Frank Shultz, Jacob and Clint Cameron and Thomas Ketchner, one great granddaughter, Payton McAndrew and one sister, Maxine Keane of Bradford.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Mitchell and one nephew, Tommy Keane.

There will be no public visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Max Miller pastor of the Bradford Area Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.

Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church, or the McKean County SPCA.
