Man Charged with DUI after Hit-and-Run

HARRISON TWP. – A Westfield man was arrested for DUI after he allegedly crashed his Chevrolet pickup truck on the Plumstead Road, and then fled the scene.

Police say the crash happened on July 8 at 6:35 pm when 20-year-old Mitch Balfour failed to maintain control of his truck while turning onto the Plumstead Road from the North Fork Road, subsequently crashing into a yard and metal fire pit, owned by 32-year-old Charles Kibbe, of Westfield.

Police say Balfour left the scene of the crash without providing any information to the victim.

Charges will be filed in Magisterial District Court 55-4-03.
