PA's Top DEP Official Slams 'Gasland'

DEP Chief and Gasland Director Josh Fox duke it out with verbal punches

PHILADELPHIA – John Hanger, DEP secretary and Pennsylvania’s top DEP official has recently lashed out at the movie Gasland and it’s director Josh Fox.

Hanger called Fox a “propagandist” and referred to his film as “fundamentally dishonest”. He went on to say that Josh Fox’s Gasland is a “deliberately false presentation for dramatic effect.”

Josh Fox however disagrees, and has shot back at Hanger, saying that it is he who is being dishonest by portraying marcellus shale drilling as anything other than the disaster it is. Others have accused the DEP secretary of being biased towards the gas industry, and say he is just another rung in the ladder of big gas rhetoric aimed towards discrediting the film.

In the movie, Fox challenges Hanger to take a drink of water that was supposedly polluted by drilling. Hanger refused.

The controversy over Gasland continues to escalate, as many in the oil and gas industry aim to discredit Fox’s documentary.
