Driver charged in Harrison Valley crash

HARRISON VALLEY – Michael E. Hochwind, 24, of Pottstown was charged with (not) Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed as the result of an accident that occurred on Route 49 Tuesday, October 12 at 4:15 pm. Police report that Hochwind was operating a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 on Route 49, approximately 100 yards west of Hurlburt Hill Road in Harrison Township when he failed to stop in time to avoid striking a 2005 Toyota Corolla, operated by Kiley O. Hand, 36, of Harrison Valley. Hand was stopped within his lane of travel while awaiting for oncoming traffic to pass before making a left hand turn when struck in the rear by Hochwind. No one was injured during the accident.

Police investigate Criminal Mischief in Galeton

GALETON – Coudersport-based State Police report an investigation of Criminal Mischief that occurred sometime between October 1 – 10 on the West Branch Road in Galeton. Police report unknown actor(s) removed two steel posts from a locked access gate within privately leased property belonging to Generations Club LLC. The actor(s) also removed approximately 4 POSTED signs. An investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coudersport-based State Police at 814-274-8690.

Motorcyclist life-flighted after crash on Route 44

STEARDSON TWP. – Clarence L. Foust, 61, of North Bend, was charged with (not) Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic as the result of an accident that occurred on Sunday, October 10 at 3:30 pm on Route 44. Police say Foust was operating a 1981 Yamaha Virago northbound on Route 44 when he failed to stay in his lane while negotiating a left-hand turn in the roadway. As a result Foust’s motorcycle left the roadway along the eastern berm. Foust attempted to steer the motorcycle back onto the roadway but lost control. The motorcycle then fell onto it’s right side and began to slide down the road approximately 40 feet before impacting a guide rail along the western berm of Route 44 and coming to rest. Kettle Creek Ambulance responded to the scene of the accident. Foust suffered moderate injuries as a result of the crash and was flown via medicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. Foust was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. His motorcycle received minor damage and did not require a tow.
