Sweden Twp. Police Investigating Identity Theft

SWEDEN VALLEY – Police in Sweden Valley say they are investigating a case of identity theft in which a credit card was fraudulently used.

Police say the unidentified victim of the crime did everything right to protect her identity and secure her credit card, despite the fact the information was compromised.

The woman’s card was used throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio to make purchases totaling nearly $300.

Police believe the culprit in the matter utilized a reader or other such device to read and/or copy the card’s information.

An investigation into the matter continues.
