Juvenile bicyclist injured in Ulysses Borough crash
ULYSSES BOROUGH, Pa. — A juvenile bicyclist was taken to a hospital after being struck by a pickup truck in Potter County on Sept. 1, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:26 p.m. near 318 North Street, east of Graham Street in Ulysses Borough.
Police said the bicyclist exited the Dollar General parking lot and entered the roadway in front of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. The pickup’s driver, 32-year-old Cory Joyce of Wellsville, New York, was unable to stop before hitting the bicycle.
The impact threw the juvenile from the bicycle and onto the roadway. The child, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered a suspected minor injury and was transported by Tri-Town Volunteer Ambulance Association to Strong Memorial Hospital.
Joyce was wearing a lap-and-shoulder belt and was not injured. The pickup sustained minor damage.
Police cited entering or crossing a roadway as the primary violation and issued a written warning, according to the public crash report.
