Local Pennsylvania Wilds Artisans Garner Attention
1 min readFrom Potter County Today
Potter County has several professional artisans involved with a regional organization designed to stimulate economic development and draw attention to the area’s cultural heritage. Samples of Pennsylvania Wilds Juried Artisans’ work can be found on a new website, www.pawildsartisans.com. Among the featured craftsmen is Doug Firestone, an old-fashioned blacksmith based in Germania. He’s shown here during a recent public demonstration in Galeton.
Artisans are listed alphabetically and by medium. Each has his or her own webpage. The site also showcases the galleries and retail shops that sell quality, handmade “Made in the Pennsylvania Wilds” goods as part of the Pennsylvania Wilds Artisan Trail.
Other Potter County juried artisans who are recognized by the organization are basket maker Charlene Brander of Galeton and photographer Curt Weinhold of Coudersport.
