OPINION: Some People will Park Anywhere
2 min readI came upon this pickup truck on Thursday evening, parked… ON Fourth Street in Coudersport.
Not only was the truck parked halfway in the road, creating quite a traffic disturbance, but it occupied two parking spaces in front of the apartment complex it was parked in front of.
The driver of the truck was nowhere to be found, for nearly two hours.
The road was reduced to one lane of travel and I watched as many cars had to stop to allow oncoming traffic to get through.
When the driver finally exited the adjacent church, I confronted him and asked, “Sir, do you realize you are parked halfway in the road?”
His response was, “Thank you.”
I pressed a bit further and said, “You do realize you have been blocking traffic for nearly two hours and taking up two parking spots?”
Again his response was simply, “Thank you.”
He then proceeded to clean the snow from his truck, before driving off.
This isn’t the first time I have witnessed vehicles parked in such a manner on this particular street, which leads me to simply wonder, “what are they thinking?”
I’m also curious as to how someone can just park this way. Do they do it consciously? How does one park, then get out of their vehicle without noticing they are halfway in the road? What does this say about their driving habits and abilities?
I’m truly baffled by things such as this.
Let me know what you think, and leave your comments below.
I believe, during snowy weather, not only should that drived been ticketed his vehicle should have also been towed at his expense!
I agree with you on this one. And, it says alot of his driving habits, and abillities. I would love to see an article on people’s in ablilities to clean off their vehicle, from the ice and snow. If having a set of beads hanging from your mirror is blocking your view enough to get a ticket, then having your entire rear and side windows covered should be as well.
Shoulda called the cops!
should have been towed and got ticket to.maybe a night in jail to
STUPIDS. THEY WALK AMONG US AND THEY VOTE TOO.
Yes…and to think that these intelligent people not only PARK but they are on our roads DRIVING! That’s the scarey part.
coudy is a strange place, vehicles are ticketed for overtime parking but the people at FASTENAL can park in a loading zone all day long and across the street in the no parking area. a loading zone may only be used while loading and unloading. furthermore, it is not the exclusive parking place of FASTENAL or anyone else. WHERE ARE COUDY POLICE,?
Go down a few more feet and see no parking meters in the spaces in front of the Leader & Enterprise office where employees park for free. There is no excuse for the boro not having meters in those spaces.
I can’t get over the fact that you sat there for two hours waiting to yell at him…. Road rage much?
No, I live on that street 🙂
