OPINION: Some People will Park Anywhere
I came upon this pickup truck on Thursday evening, parked… ON Fourth Street in Coudersport.
Not only was the truck parked halfway in the road, creating quite a traffic disturbance, but it occupied two parking spaces in front of the apartment complex it was parked in front of.
The driver of the truck was nowhere to be found, for nearly two hours.
The road was reduced to one lane of travel and I watched as many cars had to stop to allow oncoming traffic to get through.
When the driver finally exited the adjacent church, I confronted him and asked, “Sir, do you realize you are parked halfway in the road?”
His response was, “Thank you.”
I pressed a bit further and said, “You do realize you have been blocking traffic for nearly two hours and taking up two parking spots?”
Again his response was simply, “Thank you.”
He then proceeded to clean the snow from his truck, before driving off.
This isn’t the first time I have witnessed vehicles parked in such a manner on this particular street, which leads me to simply wonder, “what are they thinking?”
I’m also curious as to how someone can just park this way. Do they do it consciously? How does one park, then get out of their vehicle without noticing they are halfway in the road? What does this say about their driving habits and abilities?
I’m truly baffled by things such as this.
